Black and white filter...

After looking into many different Inide Rock bands I noticed that a recurring pattern in their videos was the use of a black and white filter. Bands such as Arctic Monkeys, The Kooks and The Killers have all used a black and white filter in at least one of their video's all of which have automatically caught my eye and stood out to me. After seeing how powerful the black and white filter can be in enhancing the mood of so many videos it influenced our choice of using the black and white filter in our own video.

Conventions of Indie Rock...

I researched into the conventions of an Indie Rock video so that our music video can fit our genre perfectly and will give us some guidance as to what to include. I decided to use the website Giffy to create my spider diagram as it was an easy way of displaying all the conventions and meant that I could access it online where ever I was, this meant I can check it whilst we were out filming.

Framing and Composition...

It is important that when organising your composition you should arrange the framing so that the focal point is complimented, this way the audience's eye will automatically be drawn there.

It is also important to remember the Rule of Thirds when planning yours shots.

With this grid in mind the 'rule of thirds' now identifies four important parts of the image that you should consider as points of interest, which you should then use as a guide to put the important parts of your image on these points. Not only this but it also gives you four 'lines' that are useful positions for elements in your photo.
If there is people in the frame their eyes should be roughly a third of the way down the frame, this will make sure that the whole of their head is in the frame which is key in having a good composition.

Leading space - Refers to the space in front of a moving subject, for example a person walking or a moving vehicle. This may also be referred to as nose room, or look space. Without the right amount of lead space, the frame will look awkward.

Head space - The amount of space between the top of the subject’s head and the top of the frame. Leaving too much headroom wastes frame space and makes your subject appear to be sinking. In a close up, too little headroom draws the viewer’s eye to the chin and neck, rather than the eyes.

The Prodigy - Breathe...

Whilst watching the music channel KERRANG! I came across this music video for 'Breathe' by The Prodigy and I was intrigued by their choice of lighting throughout the video. I loved the flashing lights as I felt it created a busy, intense atmosphere to the video and emphasised the intensity of the song. The fast slashing lights also worked well along side the fast speed changes in the editing, this is something I would like to recreate in our music video as I love the effect it creates.

Copyright email...

Now that we have decided on our final song we needed to contact the record company to ask their permission to use their song in our music video. This is for copyright purposes and we are still waiting for a response.

Band Brand...

Our song 'Pvris - White Noise' is a very different genre to our previous song 'Nina Nesbitt - Stay Out', it falls into the indie rock genre which means that our band and song names will need to fit into that genre.

For our track list we thought it would be clever to link the names to our groups experiences in AS and A2 media, with still sounding professional. Once we had thought of as many as we could tara suggested that we looked into the brand Mac's lipstick range as she remembered them having quite alternative, creative names, perfect for what we were looking for. Here is the track list we have come up with:

1)Indecisive
2) The Chill
3) Liverpool St.
4) 1997
5) Broken Glass
6) Stripped Down
7) Fiction
8) Opium
9) Mr.
10) Bait
11) Euphoria
12) Wanderlust
13) Salted Wounds
